Alberta has a vey generous microgeneration regulation that allows you to sell your extra solar power produced back to the grid!
One condition of the rate structure is the retail price you pay is the same rate you get paid for exported electricity.
To gain the most benefit from this, you can set your rate as high as possible during the summer months (when you are a net exporter) and as low as possible during the winter months (when you are a net consumer). This is sometimes called a Solar Club Rate.
33.33 ¢/kWh
- Rate good forever
- No additional fees
To sign up for this rate, complete a “normal” setup, and click the “Got Solar?” box on the first page of the signup form. On the backend, we’ll monitor your generation and consumption, and optimize your pricing using AI, so you don’t have to worry about managing your switchover date.
This rate is available to all mircogenerators in the province; you don’t have to have solar (micro-hydro or a windmill anyone?). If you have any questions about this, please feel free to email William.
