Strathcona Power is pleased to offer On-site/Behind-the-Fence generation.
The basic idea is that Strathcona Power would place a (small) generator at your location. Power would first be first fed to your building, and then Strathcona Power would sell any extra to our other clients. The generator also produces heat that you can use for space heating, domestic hot water, or anything else on-site (heat a swimming pool? melt the snow on the walk?).
The main advantage to you is that, because the power is generated at your location, you don’t have to pay transmission and distribution fees, thereby cutting your power bill in (about) half!
We will handle the installation process and costs, and can often set it up to operate as a back-up generator for your site to boot!
The footprint we require for the generator varies, but goes from ~4’x7’ to ~10’x15’ (plus access). This is available to residential, farm, small commercial, and light industrial site across Alberta.
